Krakhuna

White grape of Imereti

Krakhuna is a rich white grape of Imereti; the name is rendered as «crunchy», after the firm flesh of its berries. It gives full-bodied, extractive wines with high potential.

In the Imeretian and qvevri styles Krakhuna shows notes of ripe yellow fruit, honey, wax and walnut; the wines are dense and long-lived. It is often blended with Tsolikouri and Tsitska.

The Imeretian method is gentler than the Kakhetian: less skin contact, so the wines are paler and more delicate.
