Kisi

A revived Kakhetian grape

Kisi is a rare Kakhetian white variety, nearly lost in the Soviet period and revived by small growers over recent decades. It is thought to be a natural cross of Mtsvane and Rkatsiteli.

In qvevri Kisi gives a benchmark amber wine: deep colour, notes of pear, quince, tea and walnut, and firm tannin. Kisi became one of the faces of Georgian natural winemaking abroad.

In the fresh European style the grape is fine too — with floral aromatics and good acidity.
