Mtsvane Kakhuri

Aromatic white of Kakheti

Mtsvane (literally «green») is an aromatic white grape of Kakheti, prized for its floral-fruity bouquet and lively acidity. Not to be confused with the Racha-Lechkhumi Mtsvane — it is a separate variety.

Classically Mtsvane is added to Rkatsiteli in the Tsinandali blend, where it lends aroma and freshness. In qvevri it unfolds notes of white flowers, pear and spice.

Because of its exuberant aromatics it is increasingly made as a single varietal — both in the European style and in traditional qvevri.
