Dzelshavi

Light red of Imereti

Dzelshavi

Dzelshavi is a red grape of western Georgia (Imereti, lower Racha), giving light, pale, low-alcohol wines with vivid acidity and wild-strawberry aromatics. It is often made into rosé and «easy-drinking» reds.

Because of its pale colour Dzelshavi is often blended with denser varieties or used for fresh summer wines, including in qvevri.

It is another example of the «light» line of Georgian red — cool, berryish and food-friendly.
