Elegant red of Kartli

Shavkapito is a red grape of Kartli giving medium-bodied wines with fine tannin, pleasant acidity and aromas of red berries, spice and flowers. The name means «black stem».

In style Shavkapito leans to the elegant rather than the powerful reds — it is compared to cool-climate varieties. It works both as a single varietal and blended with Tavkveri.

Long a rarity, Shavkapito is today one of the «fashionable» revived Kartli reds among artisan winemakers.
