Deutsche Mühle

The Kötzle mill in the former Katharinenfeld

Until 1921 Bolnisi was called Katharinenfeld: from 1817 Swabian families settled here, fleeing famine and religious persecution, and the old German quarter still stands in the town. The restaurant and hotel Deutsche Mühle occupy the historic Kötzle mill on the bank of the Mashavera.

The cooking is Georgian with a German leaning, with a fireplace hall and a large terrace above the river. The place goes well with a walk through the old quarter and with Bolnisi Sioni, the oldest church in Georgia, a few kilometres away.
