Late-ripening red grape

Opoura is a Georgian red grape of the Black Sea basin group, notable for its very late ripening — in mid-November. Its flower is functionally female. The berries are dark blue, almost black, with a light waxy bloom and a dense, firm skin; the flesh is meaty and juicy, the juice uncoloured and the taste simple.

The clusters are medium, cylindro-conical and of medium density. The vine is of medium vigour with low yields and weak resistance to fungal disease. Sugar sits around 19–20% and acidity 8–9 g/L; Opoura is used for red table wines.
