The garden of the Writers' House, new Georgian cuisine

The restaurant occupies the garden behind the Writers' House on Machabeli Street, behind the mansion David Sarajishvili built in 1905, which after his death became the home of Georgian literature. Tables stand under an old pine as old as the building itself.

The kitchen is run by Tekuna Gachechiladze, and this is the «new Georgian cuisine»: familiar tastes taken apart and put back together. Elarji may arrive as sulguni croquettes with almond sauce, beef as tartare with adjika. The day and evening menus differ.

The wine list is entirely Georgian, with natural and organic bottles. The place ties two entrances to one story: you dine in the garden of the man with whom Georgian brandy began.
