Timur's invasions

Between 1386 and 1403 Timur invades Georgia eight times, devastating the land.

1386

At the turn of the 14th–15th centuries Georgia suffered eight devastating invasions by Tamerlane (Timur).

Between 1386 and 1403 his armies ravaged towns and villages, carried off the population and destroyed churches, demanding conversion to Islam.

King George VII resisted bravely, but the country was drained; Timur's invasions finally undermined the united kingdom.
