Orgo

One wine, two perspectives

Teleda Orgo was founded in 2012 by Giorgi Dakhishvili and Mamuka Tsereteli. Dakhishvili represents several generations of Georgian winemakers: he has revived several large wineries, was among the first to bottle qvevri wine, judges international competitions and teaches. He runs the family label Orgo together with his son Temur.

Mamuka Tsereteli has spent more than thirty years promoting Georgian culture, business and wine in the United States, in a career that spans academia, diplomacy and economic development. In 2005 he co-founded the Georgian Wine House to introduce American drinkers to Georgian winemaking.

The name joins an ancient toponym and a technology: Teleda was the antique name of Telavi, and orgo was what old Georgia called the lid of a qvevri. The wines come from old vines in the Kurdgelauri and Tsinandali vineyards on the right bank of the Alazani; fermentation and ageing take place in qvevri, in the traditional Kakhetian way. The range covers rkatsiteli, mtsvane, kisi and saperavi, with a sparkling mtsvane and a chacha.
