Kundza

White grape of Imereti

Kundza (also known as Kumsi, Kumsa, Kumzi or Mtsvane) is a white wine grape from Imereti and one of the oldest varieties of western Georgia. It is little-planted, has a bisexual flower, resists fungal disease well and is hardier to winter frost than Tsolikouri.

The juice reaches around 21% sugar with 6–12 g/L acidity; Kundza makes ordinary white table wines. It shows its best quality on the hills of central Imereti.
