Akhasheni is a red semi-sweet wine from Saperavi grown in the Akhasheni micro-zone of the Gurjaani district, on the right bank of the Alazani. A protected designation of origin.

In style it is close to Kindzmarauli but usually a touch softer and more «dessert-like»: dark garnet, with notes of black cherry, chocolate and jam, velvety sweetness balanced by acidity.

Like other semi-sweet Saperavi wines, its value lies in genuine provenance from its micro-zone.
