George IV Lasha (r. 1213–1223), son and heir of Tamar, ruled while Georgia was still a mighty power.
He was preparing a campaign in support of the Crusaders, but the plans were cut short by the appearance of the Mongols on the eastern frontiers.
In 1220–1221 a Mongol reconnaissance army first ravaged the Georgian lands; George was wounded and soon died, leaving the throne to his sister Rusudan.
