Galaktion was called the «king of poets»: his musical, symbolist lyric («Mary», «The Moon of Mtatsminda», «Blue Horses») defined the sound of 20th-century Georgian verse.

His fate was tragic: the terror of the 1930s took his loved ones (his cousin Titsian Tabidze was executed), and in 1959 Galaktion took his own life in Tbilisi.
