Film director
1930–2019

Georgiy Daneliya (1930–2019) was one of the best-loved directors of Soviet cinema, a Tbilisian who joined Georgian warmth and gentle, melancholy humour with the Russian comic tradition.
His films («Walking the Streets of Moscow», «Don't Grieve!», «Mimino», «Autumn Marathon», «Kin-dza-dza!») became classics; behind Daneliya's sad comedy there is always tenderness for the human being. People's Artist of the USSR.
