The Caucasian Calendar, the Viceroyalty yearbook

The Caucasian Calendar was the official yearbook published in Tiflis from 1845 to 1917. Each volume held statistics of population and economy, lists of officials, descriptions of the provinces, ethnographic and climatic data — an encyclopaedia of the Caucasus of its day.

The Caucasian Calendar appeared annually in Tiflis from 1845; more than seventy volumes were issued.

For historians and demographers it is a source of the first importance: detailed statistics by district and town, ethnic and confessional composition, prices, fairs, roads and schools.

The volumes are digitised and widely used in the study of Georgia and the whole Caucasus of the imperial era.
