Kavkaz was the oldest Russian-language newspaper of Tiflis, published from 1846 under the Viceroyalty. It carried official orders, city chronicle, advertisements and articles on the region — a prime source for Caucasian daily life. Shown is issue 74 of 1903.

The newspaper Kavkaz was published in Tiflis from 1846 to 1917 and was the principal organ of the Caucasus Viceroyalty.
Well-known writers and scholars contributed to it; its pages chronicle the wars, reforms, city life, theatre and trade of the whole region.
The files of Kavkaz are today a key source for historians of the Caucasus.
