Droeba, a Georgian newspaper (1866–1885)

Droeba («Time») was one of the first and most influential Georgian-language newspapers, published in Tiflis in 1866–1885; the tribune of the tergdaleulni generation and the national movement.

Droeba was published in Tiflis from 1866 to 1885 and became the main Georgian-language tribune of its time.

Ilia Chavchavadze, Akaki Tsereteli, Niko Nikoladze and other figures of the national revival wrote for it; the paper debated the peasant question, education and the fate of the language.

Closed by the authorities in 1885, Droeba prepared the ground for Iveria and the Georgian press of the 20th century.
