Natenadze's Wine Cellar

Natural-wine maker, Giorgi Natenadze

Natenadze's Wine Cellar is the winery of Giorgi Natenadze in Meskheti (Samtskhe-Javakheti), in southern Georgia. In 2009 he made the first modern wine of this region, where winemaking had almost been forgotten.

Natenadze searches for and revives ancient Meskhetian varieties: some vines he found growing wild in the forest, and a few are more than a hundred years old. Since 2016 he has been restoring old stone terraces and has planted dozens of rare varieties on them.

The wines are made in small batches from varieties such as Meskhuri Sapere, Chitistvala and others. He is one of the key names in the revival of winemaking in Meskheti.
