Rose Revolution

In November 2003 a peaceful revolution brings a change of government in Georgia.

2003

In November 2003, after rigged parliamentary elections in Georgia, the peaceful «Rose Revolution» began.

Mass protests led by Mikheil Saakashvili forced President Eduard Shevardnadze to resign; the roses in the demonstrators' hands became its symbol.

The revolution opened a period of reform, anti-corruption drives and a pro-Western course that shaped modern Georgia's development.
