MOMA Tbilisi, in the old cadet corps

The museum opened on 29 February 2012 at 27 Rustaveli Avenue and carries the name of Zurab Tsereteli. The collection holds some three hundred of his works: painting, graphics, sculpture. The museum covers three thousand square metres.
The building went up in the second half of the nineteenth century: first an elementary military school, then the cadet corps, which ceased to exist in 1918. Restoration ran from 2007 to 2012 and kept the outward appearance intact.
Besides the permanent display the museum regularly hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, so the halls change. Open Wednesday to Monday from eleven to six; closed on Tuesday.
