Pietro Vesconte's portolan (1321): the Georgian flag with roundels
Strabo · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons

A detail of the portolan of the Genoese Pietro Vesconte (1321) showing the eastern Black Sea. Over the Georgian coast flies a white flag with a red cross, but with red roundels in the quarters instead of the four small crosses — an early variant of Georgia's cross flag, kindred to the modern five-cross flag restored in 2004.
